Comments on website for El Encanto (EEEHA)

1. Start as cheaply as possible; keep upgrade path in mind:

	register domain name		<= $75. + <= $35./yr for renewal

	hosting of website forwarding	<= $25./yr


	free hosting of website until constructed and tested
		(I can do this, and I suspect that others also have servers
		that could handle such a small load.)
		(Disadvantage: if system crashes when out of town, then
		site may be down for days.)


	if the website is usable and used, upgrade to a commercial hosting
	service, for stability and continuity:

		e.g. dakotacom.net	$19.95 for 1-5 Mbytes storage, etc.


	professional website design - expensive; may not be needed; likely
		would have to include maintenance, also expensive.



2. Selection of domain name:

	elencanto.info, ......., ....anything except .{com,net,org}
	el-encanto.org, ....net, ....anything except .com
	elencanto-tucson.com, .......anything
	elencanto-na.com, ...........anything
	eeeha.org, ....net, .........anything except .com

	.com names are perhaps best, as top-level domain need not be typed
	.org names are logical for EEEHA

	personal preference, equally:
		el-encanto.org
		elencanto-tucson.com

		registration and forwarding handled by dakotacom.net, if they
		will do it (the forwarding)
	

3. There is some work in putting information on a web site:  

	(a) specification of a page layout; 
	(b) typing (entering) what may not already be in text format.  

	Where should the first efforts be directed?  Perhaps consider:

		membership directory - kept current

		agendas and minutes of board meetings

		newsletter - current and archives

		who recently has moved in (with bios? photos?)

		charter, bylaws and amendments

		list of EEEHA committees, including board, with memberships

		encourage residents of El Encanto to:
			join EEEHA and pay dues
			participate in EEEHA 
			contact the board
			use email for communications to/from Association,
				especially for receiving newsletter/notices,
			use web site for general information

	Subsequently:

		history:
			el encanto estates - e.g., from Hist. Reg. nomination
			eeeha - would have to be written

		discussion forums:
			neighborhood topics
				future board agenda items
				neighborhood activities
				etc.
			city topics
				politics
				exhortations
				etc.

		information of general interest:
			telnos
			web links
			useful and not so useful facts
			etc.

		bios of early and current residents, with photos

		photo and map gallery
